The Store Cupboard: food support done differently
We are a food charity with a welcoming shop in Hanwell supporting vulnerable families across the Borough of Ealing
What We Do
The Store Cupboard is a not-for-profit affordable food project with a shop in Hanwell, where people are at the heart of what we do. We’re here to help vulnerable families access good-quality food.
Working with agencies and charities across Ealing, we offer referred members a weekly shop for a small membership fee with real choice—fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, eggs, and store-cupboard staples in a welcoming retail environment. Volunteers are on hand to chat and listen. It is a place to connect and to feel part of a caring community.
Real Stories. Real Change.
The offer is far beyond food and signposting. The humanity, the space offered for people to express their needs and difficulties without judgement or prejudice and the genuine care shown by the staff is so very special.
The team itself has a wealth of knowledge and not only are they providing food they are a complete hub of support. I have seen first-hand the immensely positive impact this has on many families.
It has been a real gift to be able to offer our school families some much needed support with such empathy and warmth. The Store Cupboard really is ‘the hub of loveliness’ and the value is beyond words.
They provide more than just food, they create an environment of support and respect, allowing families to maintain a sense of pride and confidence in the face of adversity.
The Store Cupboard has helped in ways you can’t imagine. It helps my children especially over the holidays, I don’t know what I would have done without it. It’s given my children healthier food and extra little goodies I couldn’t afford.
I appreciate the advice and signposting leaflets to show me where to get help when I need it for housing and education matters. I have so appreciated the help when I needed it most. The Store Cupboard is precious to me.
